Best Way to Replace Traditional education with online education

In the last 20 years, the internet has grown from non-existent to the largest network in the world. In today we can do almost everything using the internet. It has changed the way we communicate, shop, socialize, business, education, and many other things.

Can Online education replace traditional education

Can online education replace traditional education? Well it depends. Because if we ask students, their answers will be different.

For an example, if I asked a student from a city, he would say online education is better and it can replace traditional education. But if i asked the same question from a student from a village, he would say traditional education is better. Because most of the time some people can’t afford the internet and devices.

However we can replace traditional education with  online education. But the question is it practical.

For example , if you are a medical student and you are doing your degree online, then definitely you can’t study well because these subjects need to be taught face to face. You have to interact with  your professor directly. You can’t learn surgeons from online; you have to look and learn by presenting there when doctors do the surgery. You have to examine the human body physically not from videos.

Apart from those points, we can replace online education with traditional learning easily. Students say that online learning is more efficient because they can save time and money from travelling. So they can focus more on curricular activities and also they have more time to rest.

Students like online education because they can set a flexible schedule at home. That means they can work at their own pace.

My opinion is we can replace online education with traditional education. But it is great  We have to use them together. Because both have their own characteristics.

For example, University is not only about a textbook and exams. It’s about the experience we are gaining from living in the university. It’s about making lifelong friends from all around the world, getting together and singing songs and watching movies. Learn to live alone in a new culture and even teach you how to face the world by yourself.  But online is only for learning.

And also in a traditional classroom you can ask questions face to face and you can debate with others. And of course we can do that online but face to face is way more efficient that online

Difference between online education and traditional education

When you choose a system to learn, it is good to know about what is best. So like that when you are choosing between online and traditional education you have to know what is the best for you.

So I found 5 important factors to consider when choosing between traditional and online education.

  1. Learning styles
  2. Classroom setting
  3. Technology
  4. Tuition
  5. Pacing

1. Learning Styles

Most of the time online learning leads to independent learning. In online learning you don’t have friends next to you to ask something that you don’t understand. You can’t just raise your hand and ask questions from the teacher. If you have questions about something then probably you have to find the answers by yourself.

But there are also some cool apps that work like actual classrooms,  you can raise your hand and ask questions, turn on your camera , message your friends and teacher while attending your lectures, even students are able to do group projects using these modern technologies.

But it is not as effective as traditional classrooms, because things can easily go wrong,  such as sudden power cuts, connection issues.

There are common communications options available when it comes to online education, such as,

  • Email
  • Message boards
  • Instant messaging
  • Video conferencing
  • Chat rooms etc,

But In traditional education you have face to face interaction in and out of the classroom. It is more effective than online learning. You can ask anything at any time and you can interact with your friends and teachers far better than online.

2. Classroom Setting

In traditional education students can attend their lectures at a specific time and specific place. Students can interact with study groups and teachers or instructors after class or during office hours. And also teachers can monitor you closely during lectures. It is a great benefit.

Same thing happens in online education most of the time. But You can choose where you can attend the lectures, you can only interact with teachers during the lectures. Most of the time students do not turn on their camera, because of that the teacher doesn’t know if the students are there or not. Students can simply join the lectures and mind their own business.

3. Technological concerns

To do well in online education students must have a computer and other relevant things. These things can easily go wrong. And also Teachers and students must understand how to use the newest technologies. You should have technological knowledge. It does not matter if you use traditional or online education.

For an example , You should know about how to do research using the internet. Difference is when it comes to online education you should know more about these things rather than traditional education.

4. Tuition

Most of the time online education costs less when it;s compared to traditional learning. Because there are no extra fees such as  lab fees, travelling fees.

In a traditional system. Students should take the courses on a fixed date and time on a fixed place that the institute offered. But in online education there are no fixed places and times. But remember some online lectures are conducted in fixed time.

That means online education offers more flexibility. In a more flexible environment students can finish their programs faster. According to researchers those who are doing online education programs finish their courses faster than students who are doing traditional education.

how online education can be improved

  1. Effective approach
  2. Courses empowered with videos
  3. Embrace the power of communication
  4. Implement the virtual reality
  5. Flexible lesson plans

1. Effective Approach

This is typically determined by money, time and resources. People believe that the learning process becomes better when there are fewer expenses and less time involved. Main approach of this idea is to increase productivity and efficiency of learning.

2. Courses Empowered With Videos

Normally students more like to watch television more than listen to the radio. As like that students are more into digital video learning materials. So empowering the courses with videos is a great way to improve online education.

3. Embrace The Power Of Communication

Communication is the key when it’s come to online education. In online education everything depends on communication. Students and teachers should be able to communicate through social media channels, emails, chat groups and many more. And also students should be able to discuss topics, raise questions, and even compare marks they obtained from their assessments. So power up communication is very important.

4. Implement Virtual Reality (VR)

Virtual reality is the use of computer technology to create a simulated environment. Instead of using a traditional viewing screen, users can be immersed and able to interact with the 3D world. This is an artificial world. Integrating virtual reality with online education is a good way to improve online education.

6. Flexible lesson Plans

In online education, students should have the ability to study at their own pace. So sticking into old school rules is not a good idea. So creating flexible lesson plans is a must to improve online education.
